Edward Lasker won five U.S. Open Championships and got the special prize (the best score against five leaders) in a legendary New York chess tournament in 1924, facing world-class masters like Alekhine, Capablanca, Rubinstein, Emanuel Lasker and Reti.

On December 12, 1979, Arkady Geller defeated Edward Lasker at a tournament at the International Center in Manhattan, where a team of new immigrants played against the Rockefeller University team. Here is how it happened:
