INTRODUCTION:
Chess Master Arkady Geller
invites you to join him on a journey of exploration and learning in
the world of chess. The study of chess builds confidence, encourages
concentration, fosters a lifelong love of intellectual exploration,
demonstrates cause-and-effect relationships, teaches strategy, and promotes
the setting and achieving of goals.
BIOGRAPHY:
In
1977, Mr. Geller brought his expertise and love of chess from St. Petersburg,
Russia, where he had taught chess to children for 10 years. He pioneered
children’s chess education in the United States with the opening
of his first school in Manhattan in 1980. In the years to follow he opened
schools in Queens and Brooklyn, and in 1986 Mr. Geller founded the New
Jersey Children’s Chess School. Arkady established the "Geller
Kids" Chess Camp in 1992. Arkady has devoted his life to the development
of a chess program geared to bring this wonderful game into the lives
of New Jersey’s children.
From 1980 to
the present, “Geller Kids” have won many state and national
championships as well as the US Amateur Chess Team Chamionships 12 times.
